Phoenix Yoga & Wellness offers a range of classes, so you can find the movement practice you love. Our serene studio space features soft lighting and simple design to help you unwind. At our core, we are a community of respect and kindness, and all are welcome.
A note from Phoenix…
Welcome, I am so grateful you are here.
I opened this studio at the ripe age of 24, as a yoga studio exclusively. Over the years, I grew from being a new college graduate, to a wife and mother of 2 wonderful children (and many dogs.) While my personal life grew, so did the studio.
The variety and caliber of classes at our studio is hard to come by elsewhere.
Prior to opening the studio, I pursued another one of my life’s dreams and received my B.F.A for dance at The Hartt School. While there, I fell in love with, and got certified to teach Pilates. Years later, after having my daughter, my passion for practicing and teaching pilates took on new life as a way to facilitate a deeper connection to functional strength.
Pilates was THE thing that helped me feel strong in my body and like myself again after becoming a mom.
In 2018 I added Mat & Reformer Pilates to the studio, and since then I’ve been able to witness the transformation of so many clients. In their words, not mine: “reformer has helped my golf game, my back, and to be able to keep up with my grandkids.” This is my “why” for everything we offer at the studio; to help improve your day to day life.
Now what about barre?
Well, it was a natural addition for me, as a dancer and a yoga/pilates instructor. Barre combines yoga, pilates, and dance to great music. It is a butt-kicking (and shaping!), challenging, sweaty, extremely fun workout. ANYONE can do barre. You don’t have to be a dancer, or a serious yoga, or any shape or size. You simply have to show up.
When I think of my “why” for doing what I do, three words come to mind, “balance, strength, and clarity.”
That is what I hope you will take away from your time with us. While we offer a variety of classes, each class and each teacher brings their own unique gifts to the studio, and I encourage you to try a variety of classes with us if you’re able to.
Through many trials, errors, successes, changes of direction, and remembering my “why,” I introduce to you the PY that exists today. I can’t wait to meet you!
Tidbits you may want to know about me:
I am a 500hr Yoga Teacher and have taught thousands of classes to all ages and levels.
I am a certified STOTT PILATES mat & reformer instructor.
Throughout the years I have worked at therapeutic boarding & day schools, as well as an inner city magnet school, teaching yoga & dance to youth & adolescents.
The studio (and being a mom,) is now my full-time job.
While I primarily teach adults now, the years I spent teaching adolescents profoundly contributed to shaping who I am as a teacher and human. I still refer to my students from a decade ago as, “my kids.”
I care deeply about history, family, and our world.
I have recently begun pursuing my Masters Degree in Jewish Professional Studies and find meaning in life-long learning.
Oh! One last thing. I try to be available and responsive to texts/emails/calls, however, please use the online schedule system or mindbody app to sign up/cancel classes whenever possible. We all deserve to enjoy time away from work spent with family. On the weekends I teach my classes, and then I “log off!” No correspondence will be made from Friday evening through to Saturday evening. Thank you for understanding this.
